Christian Taylor is Racing the 400 Meters in ShanghaiBy Adam Kopet Nick Zaccardi of NBC Olympics reports Christian Taylor is splitting time this season between the 400 meters and the triple jump. Taylor has already finished second in the triple jump at the first Diamond League meeting of the season last week in Doha, Qatar. He is scheduled to race Saturday in the 400 meters in Shanghai, China, the second stop on this season's Diamond League circuit. The goal for Taylor this season is to break 45.00 in the 400. He has a background in racing the 400, but has focused on the triple jump since he turned pro. Taylor is a two-time Olympic champion and three-time world champion in the triple jump and is only three inches off the world record. Taylor owns a 400-meter best of 45.17. He ran that at the 2014 Drake Relays. This season, Taylor plans to compete in the four Diamond League triple jump events and then race the 400 whenever he can get a lane. This will be Taylor's first Diamond League 400. More news |
